NOW is the time to learn about college admission processes and plan for post-secondary options.  Look at the "planning for college" resources listed on this site.  WHS counselors will answer your questions during individual one-on-one conferences which will be held February 11 - March 1.  During this time, you will define your courses for next year and discuss college planning.  In order to make the best use of this 30 minute session, come with your questions, after exploring these college planning resources.

PSAT results and information...

Counselors will distribute PSAT results for grades 10 and 11 during an information session in English classes January 9 - 14.  PSAT information for parents will be offered during the PTSA meeting on January 15 at 7:00 in the cafetorium.  Questions about PSAT?  Complete this survey so that we may address your questions.

Wondering when 7 semester transcripts will be available to be sent?     New GPA/rank is calculated after all make-up finals are taken and all grades are verified.  We anticipate that transcripts will be ready to roll by the end of January.

Scholarships are online via many sources.  However, we have several copies of the Minnie Piper "Compendium of Texas Colleges and Financial Aid Calendar"....if you want to pick up a copy....until they are all gone.

Rotary International will sponsor a teen residential leadership camp June 30 - July 5.  Print out an application here, and parent consent, and return by January 12, or pick one up from Ms. Engle at school

Austin Community College will offer spring courses on the 
Westwood High School campus.

Government 2305  will be offered before school at 7:30.  History 1302 will be offered TTh during 4th block, and psychology 2301 will be held on MW during 4th block.  
NOTE....History 1302 is a stand alone course for which students will receive a full high school credit for US history.
NOTE...junior students are eligible to take this spring government course

These courses are listed in the online ACC course catalog.  Junior and senior students - check with your counselor to see if these courses will fit into your schedule, and obtain a co-enrollment approval from them.  This must be done prior to the end of this semester.  

ACC advisors will be at WHS during lunches on November 1 - 2 to help with registration for these and other dual credit courses.

Sophomores register for the PLAN

Saturday, October 27, WHS will provide PLAN testing for sophomore students.  Test results help indicate college readiness, prepare for the ACT test, and include tests in English, math, reading, and science.  Cost is $20, and registration will be held  October 9 - 12, outside of the A - D student services office 8:15 - 9:00 each morning
Important events for Seniors 2013...
Wednesday, October 17, seniors will begin the day with 3 important events, including... 
senior class meeting, 
financial information, 
and college application assistance.
