College Application Presentation for Parents and Students

Round Rock ISD is hosting a College Application Presentation for all RRISD students and parents. A general overview of the college application process will be presented by Melissa Morris, Regional Advisor for Texas A&M University and Melinda Ramirez, Admission Counselor for St. Edward's University.

Topics covered will include:

  • ApplyTexas Application
  • Common Application
  • New Coalition Application
  • FAFSA Prior-Prior Year Changes

Time:           6:30: Doors will open to pick up recruitment materials.

ApplyTexas Essay Boot Camp

ApplyTexas Essay Boot Camp 
Aug 3 - 1:30 to 3:30
Westwood High School: 9th Grade Center Classrooms 

Update: Please enter through the Main Westwood Entrance and proceed to the 9th grade center classrooms. 

Students will be assigned to specific classrooms. Please look for the room assignments posted near the entrance. 

With construction ongoing at Westwood High School, The ApplyTexas Essay Boot Camp will be limited to 150 students. Students must sign up to participate by Noon on August 2nd. Please sign up through the link below:

Students should have a draft of their Apply Texas Essays ready for college admissions representatives to critique. The 2016-2017 Essay Prompts are: 

Essay A:
What was the environment in which you were raised? Describe your family, home, neighborhood, or community, and explain how it has shaped you as a person.

Essay B:
Some students have an identity, an interest, or a talent that defines them in an essential way. If you are one of these students , then tell us about yourself.

Essay C:
You've got a ticket in your hand - Where will you go? What will you do? What will happen when you get there?

Students should check with the universities to which they are applying regarding the required essays.

ACT Test Report Changes

While the ACT test is not changing, the score reports provided to students and schools will have a few changes this year. 

In addition to the change in report format, the ACT Writing test score will no longer be reported on a 1-36 scale. Writing scores will return to the 2-12 range with a 12 being the highest score.
