April 4th from 6:00pm - 7:30pm: How to help your kids with Anxiety Presentation

On April 4th, we will have Sydney Dickerson here at Westwood in the library great room to give an evening presentation about "How to help your kids with anxiety."

Sydney Dickerson, LCSW-S holds a Master’s degree in Social work from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Supervisor. She has been working with adolescents and their families for the past 9 years and specializes in trauma. Sydney is certified in both Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused CBT. She has extensive experience working with teens who struggle with anxiety and depression as well as coaching parents around these topics. She currently works at Good Mourning Counseling Center.

RRISD Career Fair-April 1st


On Monday, April 1, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Round Rock High School, 201 Deep Wood Dr. in Round Rock, students Pre-K through grade 12 are invited to attend the Districtwide Career Fair, a free event. At the fair, students and parents will enjoy hands-on interactive exhibits that demonstrate a wide array of professional and skilled career choices. Exhibitors from the surrounding business community aim to provide students with access to the necessary knowledge, skills, and the confidence they need to secure successful futures.

Secondary students can experience:
·         Resume and application tips,
·         Networking opportunities,
·         Careers on wheels; including the armed forces,
·         Giveaways,
·         Career discovery software,
·         Interactive photo booth with souvenir photos to take home, and
·         FAFSA assistance.
Elementary students will enjoy:
·         Meet and greet opportunities with community helpers such as EMTs, firefighters, and police officers,
·         Careers on wheels, including the Trailblazer Bus, Texas National Guard Command Center Bus, a Circuit of The Americas car, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and solar training units,
·         Giveaways, and
·         Interactive photo booth with souvenir photos to take home.
The Career Exploration Fair offers students the opportunity to discover, consider and get excited about becoming future ready.

Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program, Free!

Our Summer Immersion Program is a free​ ​7-week introductory computer science ​program ​for​ ​10th-11th grade girls going into their junior or senior year of high school. During the 7-week program, participants​ ​learn​ about ​computer science,​ ​gain​ ​exposure​ ​to​ ​tech​ ​jobs,​ ​and​ ​join​ ​a​ sisterhood​ ​of​ ​girls​ ​who​ ​are​ ​using​ ​computer​ ​science​ ​to​ ​become​ ​change-makers.
