Texas Internship Challenge

High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS)
applications are now open! HAS is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Texas high school juniors to explore careers at NASA, learn about what they might want to study in college, and unite with like-minded students across the state. Following a series of online lessons, the highest achieving students will be invited to an all-expenses-paid, week-long visit to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston during the summer. Selected participants will plan a mission to Mars while receiving guidance from NASA scientists and engineers. Both the online and onsite portions are free to participants.

 UTSA high school engineering camp. This camp is designed for students entering 9th- exiting 12th grade.  The camp is one week long, but we have four weeks to choose from.  Each day the students will learn about a different engineering field (biomedical/chemical, mechanical, computer/electrical, civil). Students will here presentations by UTSA professors, complete engineering design challenges, and tour various UTSA engineering labs. We also have the option of an overnight camp where students will reside on campus in one of our residence halls.

The Division of Multidisciplinary Programs at Stephen F. Austin State University is pleased to announce its annual Pre-Law Academy, an innovative, weeklong program, which introduces current high school sophomores, juniors and seniors to the exciting legal profession. Students selected for participation in this program will:
  • explore options for undergraduate study
  • interact with top judges and attorneys from throughout Texas
  • gain firsthand information from law school admission counselors
  • explore career options in the legal profession
  • conduct a mock crime scene investigation
  • and participate in a mock trial competition.
SFA’s Pre-Law Academy is the only program of its type open to current sophomores, juniors and seniors. We encourage you to share this information and the attached flyer with your students, family and friends.

Naval Academy Summer Seminar (NASS) for Current Juniors: The NASS registration opens January 3rd and will remain open through March 31st.  This is a chance for students to try out the Naval Academy for six days in June.  More information is available here:
                          The sessions are:
-  Session 1: 01-06 June 2019
-  Session 2: 08-13 June 2019
-  Session 3: 15-20 June 2019
-  Note: There are more applicants than openings and only about 1/3 of the Freshmen at the Naval Academy will have attended NASS, so attendance is definitely not a requirement for Admissions. Also, there are need-based scholarships for tuition and travel and a student can apply after selection for NASS.  

Naval Academy STEM Programs for Current 8th, 9th, and 10th Graders:  The Naval Academy June 2019 Summer STEM Camp applications open January 3rd and will remain open until April 15th.  More information is available here:

The Department of Film Studies at The University of Tulsa offers a residential filmmaking camp for high school students. Students will have the opportunity to plunge into every aspect of creating films, as well as exciting evening group activities and film screenings. The camp will culminate in a festival of student work to display for friends and family.
TU alum Cameron Buckley (BA ’14) will serve as instructor for this year’s Filmmaking Camp. Dr. Joseph Rivers and Professor Jeff Van Hanken will also make presentations on aspects of film production, screenwriting and film scoring.
